About the Band

Some of you are interested in knowing how the Band was formed and who we were. So, here you have our history :)

We all love music.

That’s all. The rest was something that had to happen sooner or later. Just go to a PDW, or to a Conference and you’ll find yourself talking to somebody who plays an instrument or sings (thanks, Jörg and Annette; you were not in Seville, but you were a great inspiration for the idea). And then, the thought came to us: What if…? If it’s easy to find some musicians just talking to some people in a group of one hundred and something, what would happen if we talked to everybody in a group of almost 500?

If it was going to be an eTwinning project, then we needed eTwinning tools, so a TwinSpace was created (thanks, Santi and Sylvia) and a call for volunteers was sent to everybody. From the CSS we received as much help as we required to have everything organized for the Conference; a rehearsal room, a stage, a place in the programme (thanks a lot, Silvia). Up to 29 people joined the project. Some didn’t eventually play or couldn’t attend the Conference, but in the meanwhile, they took part in the discussions, gave ideas and, which is more important, gave a lot of support.

And we started working. We introduced ourselves. We discussed and decided the programme. Pasi suggested “La Bamba”, and then Floren suggested to blend it with “Twist and Shout”; a rock version of the “Ode to Joy” was proposed and discarded; “Imagine” was agreed almost at once… Sound files were uploaded… Download, listen, play and give some feedback! Tommaso posed an important issue, how will we be dressed? What did you think? That having all of us in black was a coincidence?

And, finally, there we were, in Seville. Our first meeting in the rehearsal room. First, we talked, then we plugged all the instruments and, then, we TALKED. It’s so easy with music! New ideas, laughters and hard work filled the room. No wonder we got on so well. Suddenly we were not a group of people any more. Now, we were a band.

And the concert. You all saw what happened, the final result of our project. You saw how much fun we had, and, what’s more important, we could see how much fun you were having. Thank you for being there.

The musicians:

From the world outside eTwinning, Jaime (Spain – drums) and Kiriko (Spain – bass guitar)

At the keyboards, Sebastian Dorok (Germany) and Father Theodoros Tsampatzidis (Greece)

At the guitars, Zdenek Hetes (Czeck Republic), Florenci Sales (Spain) and Pasi Siltakorpi (Finland)

At the flute, Guna Stahovska (Latvia)

The voices were Tommaso Mannelli (Italy), Marta Pey (Spain), Chris Souvlin (UK) and Angela Riccomi (Italy)

Treat them right!

Workshop session report: Using the NEW TwinSpace

During the conference, the Central Support Service ran one workshop on how to use the new eTwinning TwinSpace which was launched in October 2009. The session, run by Christina Crawley and Santi Scimeca, provided an overview of the use of the TwinSpace in general terms as well as an opportunity to delve into the use of the tools in more detail.

The first part of the session focused on presenting the use of the TwinSpace platform as a support tool in eTwinning project work. The TwinSpace is a secured online platform for teachers and pupils to work together in an eTwinning project. The platform can be used as a staff room, a classroom, a showcase room and a project porfolio.

A new version of the TwinSpace was launched in the autumn of 2009 to provide more tools and a more personalised platform for projects to use. Profiles are more personalised, document size uploads have significantly increased to answer to the fact that more and more video and audio files are being used, as well as tools such as wikis, blogs and forums imbedded.

While the session was only 1.5 hours, it was a good opportunity for the CSS to gain feedback from teachers as well in regards to how they use the new TwinSpace. For more information, please have a look at the below PPT presentation. And of course: feel free to give us your feedback on both the session and the TwinSpace.

Thank you all

Thank you all for a great time in Sevilla. It was a perfect arrangement for meeting collegues all over Europe. Something that I found really intresting was the discussions about the future of the schools. I think that we need to tell our politicians at home that the students need to learn in a creative way. We can not take the school back twenty years, we need to go forward!

Science and maths - Digital skills - Etwinning WINNERS

In order to see how this year’s top European projects got to the top of the list, this workshop session provides an opportunity for participants to hear an expert present an analysis of the Science & Maths and Digital skills winning projects as well as hearing directly from the teachers involved. The session allows for an exchange of good practice and interaction.

Wonderful Experience!

It was a wonderful experience taking part in the Conference for the second time and even more being a finalist! I have learned a lot and enjoyed feeling part of an enthusiastic community. Meeting my partners for the first time in the real world was a very touching moment and convinced me once more how lucky I have been. I'm home full of new ideas and looking forward to new adventures. Here is a small presentation I was honoured to have at the eTwinning and Comenius stand. Maybe some of the other participants will find it useful. Thank you, eTwinning!

The Band!

Great memories!!!

Thank you & demand

Dear all,

thank you so much for the great conference and the good time we had together!

Can you help us? We had 3 notices close to the "eTwinning ambassadors" stand. You had the possibility to sign to join our project/s. Yesterday we wanted to pick them up but they weren't there.

Our projects are

  • "European friendship"
  • "Little Twinny's adventures"
  • "Teacher friendship"

Thank you for helping us to find the interested eTwinners.

Best regards

Elisabeth & partners

Long live eTwinning!

Many ideas, prospects of new projects, speculations on the future of learning, a book eTwinning 2.0 and so much more I've brought back from the conference.

Great job, the organizing team!
